    My fellow camaro fans...

I have a problem and question.

This might be long so sorry right up front.

Last Aug/Sept. I put my car away for winter storage. Really did nothing to it, except put it in the garage and cover it. I would start her up about once a month and let her run for 10 - 15 minutes plus I would rev. the engine after she got to operating temp. I have done this routine since I put her away. Now, when I did put her away, she had a tank a preimum gas. So over time, of starting her up, letting it warm up and reving her for 15 minutes, I was using the gas so now I am at about 1/4 tank.

About 2-3 weeks ago, I decided it was time to get her ready to be put on the road for a trip I am taking in May. Go to the store and get Plugs, Wires, Oil, Oil Filter, Gas Filter. Get home, and I turn the car on for the first time in about 3 weeks, runs like she has been for the past 6 months. No noise or annything.

Jump to a week later, and I get a chance to swap out the plugs, and wires. I have a tick. I'm like WTF, then I notice I forgot to put the gasket on the EGR tube. Since I have no idea where the gasket is, I order on from Chevy. It come in, I go home and I drop it under the block on the K-Frame. Again, I'm like WTF. Stick my hand down there, and I pull out the old one, so I'm like OK I'll use this one. Tick is gone... for now.

So two days later, idiot light is on for gas. Since car is not registered or insured, i get my gas can and go get PREIMUM GAS with E10. Put it in the tank, and walk away. Two days later, start the car up, and a NASTY tick, I pop the hood and I can not figure out where it is coming from close the hood and it sounded like shit. Let the car warm up, and it quited down.

Get the car on insurance and register it and drive it for about 3 -5 miles the first day still have a slight tick. Second day I take it on a 15 - 20 mile drive and I still have the tick. So, I'm thinking fuel injectors and gummed up. Get STP injector cleaner, Father-in-Law reccommended it, and and now I need gas, so I go and get gas from the SAME place I got the Preimum Gas with E10 the last time. Still have the tick or knock or when ever you want to call it.

I change the oil by this time with Mobile 1 5w-30 synthetic and a Napa GOLD oil filter and I have the tick still.

My question for you guys is:

WTF could be causing my tick/knock? I just read an artical that if the car is not recommended for E10, we should not use it. I have also read that if the Spark Plugs are loose that would cause a tick/knock. Same gose for the plug wires. So tonight when I get home, I will be under the hood making sure all plugs and wires are tight as well as the EGR tube and gasket, again.

So to sum it up, all I have done was Plugs and Wires, EGR tube gasket, E10 Preimum gas and an oil change. Prior to this car was running just fine with no noise or tick.

P.S. I am not going to seafoam my car cause I used it twice once on the Camaro and once on my Durango, and I needed a CAT for the Camaro, and I foulded out 3 plugs on the Durango.

Again, Sorry for this LONG post, but I wanted to give you as much back ground info as well.

    Thanks,
    Chris

if the noise didnt start untill you put the new parts in it then i would have to suggest going back and double checking the work.
is it possible you left a plug loose?
maybe a wire not seated fully?
also check your AIR tube. feel around with your hand for hot air/changes in sound. Good Luck

does the tick/knock stop when you get to normal operating temp? if it does, it could be the infamous LS1 piston slap...

hey chris, well to me it sounds like piston slap, but its odd it just started after those changes, so like stated above i would start with possibly loose plugs loose wires, after that i would check the oil filter for possible internal blockages, make sure you have full oil pressure when idling somehwhere above 40 when cold and slightly lower when at operating temp.

if you still have a tick it may be a good idea to remove the serp belt to remove all the accys for possible failures.

also post up mileage and manual or auto, this could help me or us help you figure out what the heck is going on, good luck, pm me with any new found info if you want, sounds like your a desperate man in need of some advice or help. good luck

I think I figured it out. The EGR tube puffed smoke when I started it up yesterday. I then torqued it down to 16 ft/lbs. Tick it there just a bit, but I think it might be the crappy E10-premium gas I put in her.

When I get that gas out of it, I will put in ol' regular premium gas. This is what I get for trying to save 5 cents a gallon

Should have read your whole post.

69,970 in miles, its also an A4. This tick did not start till I did the plugs, then I was running out of gas and then put the E10 crap in. I think I remember putting that crap in about a year and a half ago and had the same tick
