how can i get my key measurement with the ohm so i know what resistor to buy where can i go get a measurement and where can i buy a resistor.

you can buy a multimeter from radio shack for ~$10-15 if you don't know anyone that owns one. On your key there's a little "pellet". Set the meter on ohms ( this symbol on the meter Ω ) and touch one lead to one side of your pellet and the other lead to the other side of the pellet and see what reading you get. After you get the reading see where it falls on the chart about 3/4 of the way down this page pellet chart and see what your nominal number is. Go back to radio shack if you don't have a better electrical supply place and they should have resistors that will work. I had to solder 2 in a series to hit my nominal reading but you may not have to. Either way, you want to be as close to the nominal number as possible because resistors have a variance stripe ( silver is 10% and gold is 5%) that may let it fall out of range from time to time.
