I have a great idea
I have never seen this asked before, but is it possible to put a duramax into one of our cars. I can get a duramax for a decent price but would it fit or would our six speeds bolt to it. The weight would be a draw back but slap some mods on it and say see you later to the new ZR1. I have a buddy that just dynoed 994 ft lbs of torque to the wheels in his truck and it isn't even modded to its full potential. Anyone else think of this, I have no clue if it is possible but just a thought.

Man: The Mods you are fighting,
they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
Me: That is why no one will remember your name!

really interesting thought, you'd get a better gas mileage too. the german brands all have fast diesel cars. audi even ran the le mans 24h with a diesel car.

I really love hearing people rag on the duramax. I beat on them all day at my job and the only thing we had a problem with was with the injectors problem once. The duramax trucks out pull the new cummins at my work(pulling equipment to and from different auction yards) We pull gooseneck trailers loaded down and sometimes though mud/snow, depending on where the equipment is located. I really love the duramax/allison combo in the dually crew cab..

I know I would need a roll cage for frame support. A 9" or Dana 60, with some meats. The tranny if it would work prolly would have to be gone thru. Motor mounts and such stuff. I really would like to do it. I would lose some cornering ability but straight line the fucker would be a force to be reckoned with.

I currently own a old 6.2/m4 truck that i use as a work horse.....its coming up on its 330,000mi birthday lol! The 6.5L wasnt bad if you didnt modify or beat on too bad....the problem i had with that motor was i would break crankshafts in half....i wish i was joking!
One time while pulling a gooseneck i lost steering/brakes(hydroboost), and charging. When i pulled over and refired motor it was banging and knockin like mad....opened hood to see that front drive accessories werent moving! Turns out i had broke the crank....i turned injector pump up and messed with boost settings LOL!
I cant wait to get back to work on monday and fire up 6 diesels and listen to them pur warming up

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
I don't think the 6 speed tranny in an F-body could take the torque of a Duramax, even with the Viper upgrade.

Diesels just don't sound right. Sorry, no diesel love from me. Yeah they make great torque, yadda yadda yadda. Still they stink, are hella heavy, and the smoke!

Audi's R8 prototype was hugely successful in it's own right, but switching over to diesel in the R10 gave the team such an advantage that ALMS made them step down to a smaller fuel cell and imposed some other restrictions, can't remember specifics. Audi was rightfully angry about that and threatened to leave the series but sucked it up and fought back and won anyway. The engine is super quiet, you can only hear the turbo spooling and tire noise as it flies through the circuit which is really cool and kinda creepy all at the same time.
Moral of the story, diesel is a legitimate performance powerplant.
I'd love to see a diesel powerd F-body. The tunability, longevity, and fuel economy are huge benefits. The car would get a lot of press for sure, exhibition runs at big drag racing events, etc. Yeah Dana 60, and big meats out back to keep that torque in check.
