hey guys,

Well I just received my Camaro. It was given to me. However there was a catch. It came with no motor. Well, it has one, but I am giving it back to my friend that gave me the car.

Specs are:
1996 Camaro Z28 (LT1 and Auto)
Upgrades include:
3.73s
Headers
Full exhaust
K&N Intake


So, I went to F-parts and purchased a whole setup:

1997 LT1 combo.
LT1
Auto Tranny
Harness
ECU, etc......

I am unsure on a couple of things though.

1) Will I have to send the computer out and get the VAT cleared so I can use my ignition and key to start it.

2) The motor has 75K, what should I do to the motor before putting it in? (Water pump, gaskets, etc...)

3) This should drop right in correct?

Opti Spark? I'd rebuild it with a MSD kit for sure while it is out.
I'd also stick fresh spark plugs in it.
I'll defer to the Fbody boys but I think you can relearn that VAT can't you?

Does your car have the original 96 PCM with it? If so, just go with it, everything should match up to the 97 engine. I don't recall any differences between them.
