    Dumb LTH ?

    Are all long tube headers the same over all length? I have a chance to bid on a y-pipe and cat back exhaust that was used with a set of LTs. Only problem is the seller has this as a salvage item and doesn't know what LTs were used with it.

    I assume you mean where the flange ends up at the end.... in that case, yea, most of them should be close enough in size that they will work.

    On a side note, Volusia county FTW!

    ok, what the heck is FTW? I have been reading posts for hours today and saw that several times. I'm not very good at short hand lingo.

    yes i was refering to the collectors. I want LTs but don't like what I have read so far about pace stters and have to cut dtuff, and no one ever talks about how hookers fit or hedman. It seems all you hear about are headers that are the cheapest.

    this cat back plus Y i'm thinking about would need to bolt to any LTs I feel like buying. I can see it know, falling short and having to drive to the shop with open headers and getting pulled over. Ending up too long and I don't cut unless its the cheese because if i can screw it up i will.

    I've all but convinced myself to buy headers and Y from the same company and then deal with a cat back later. The last obsticle is cats or no cats. I hate cats but that is a poop in the box story for another day. I would feel guilty running w/o cats.

    ah, never would have guessed that, thanks.

    I just have this bad feeling i should pass on the Y and cat back w/o knowing what headers where on it. I was hoping to save money, and it is local pick only. Hmm, but I could end up blowing money on it and buy headers that don't fit, that would suck.

    well still, any decent exhaust shop could mod them to fit, if by some chance they didn't.

    Don't know what you have heard about pacesetters but it's probably crap. Pacesetters are the best for the buck. I have the lts & ory on my hawk, were easy to install, go ground clearance, & they fit like a glove. The cost was $459 tax inc with free shipping, came with everything to do the job, lts,ory,o2simms, gaskets,bolts etc. You are right about one thing, Buy the lts & ory from the same place to insure your getting a matched set. JMO.

    Just one more note. I don't have cats, & with a good tune on her after the install it passed the emissions test. I'm not ragging on you, just stating my own experience. The pacesetter system is a good choice.

    I know every one likes the pacestters but I kind of don't like the crimped ORY they have. I don't plan to lower my car so I would prefer a nice round pipe with no squished sections. I'm leaning towards Hooker only becuase the Edlebrocks seem to need welding for the O2 bungs and stuff.

    The flat spot is there for clearance, it's not noticeable, and doesn't restrict the exhaust flow. But to each there own.

    i've been thinking of seeing if a local shop can do true duals off the stock manifoolds and have the cats located futher back. Kind of like a prep to headers. It sounds tricky unless you know where to put every thing. I guess that should be why they get paid the big bucks. I also think it might be worth gettign a quote to compare to buying a system online.
