pacesetter y pipe

i just installed pacesetter headers and y pipe on my 01 trans am. The y pipe is so close to the floorboard when i let go of the clutch the pipe is so close to it that it rattles the floorboard. any ideas?

mine did this to..........then i loked at my motor mounts and they were shot, actually one side of the motor was leaning. if this is the case for you then get some good poly mounts. solved my problem

Motor mounts may solve the issue but for most it doesnt. If you run a search you will find multiple solutions.
You can purchase a mufflex bumpstop and that works for some, The best way i have found is to have a exhaust shop cut out the section of pipe below the driver side floor board and have them bend a piece of 3 inch pipe and weld it back in, that will give you plenty of clearence.

I just kept the whole setup loose and adjusted it to my liking before tighening everything. I have no ratling or banging.

Funny I have the same problem. I am out of adjustment and cannot gain anymore clearance.
My motor mounts are fine as the car is a low mileage original. I am not sure poly mounts would solve my problem but it's a good suggestion. I would rather have a torque strap on mine, it's what I use on most other cars. But can't seem to find the room.

Cutting the pipe and welding in a section to hang lower is a little iffy for me,,,as the pipe is about as low as I care to have it,,,and having welds hanging down to look at doesn't interest me, not to mention the section would be crush bent,,,kinda would ruin the mandrel bent 3 inch pipe.

I am however interested in this Mufflex bumpstop that you mentioned. Any place I can have a look at it? How does it work?

have exhaust shop heat up the y pipe and bend it slightly downward, problem solved

when i installed my pacesetter lt and ory i just used the mufflex bump stop and i dont have any banging or rattling. so if you dont want to swap your motor mounts right now you could try one of those.

Well I searched Mufflex's website and see nothing anywhere about a bumpstop. A picture here would be very helpfull, or a description of the part and how it works.

In the meantime I devised an adjustable torque strap on mine last night, and it is working great. Keeps the motor where it belongs. No more lost energy from the engine twisting to the side, and best of all,,,,no more Y-pipe hitting the floor.
