Long start, fuel pressure reg?
I have a 2000 ls1 camaro, has a long start condition. When the vehicle has sat for 5+ minutes, it will take 2 key strokes to start it. Sometimes, a LONG cranking time will get it to go, but normally 2 crankings is necessary. What is wrong? Someone told me fuel pump but that just is nutz. I am not dropping that axle to get to that tank to put a pump in it.

first check your fuel pressure at the rail with the key in the on position. Should be ~58psi. If it's low I would first look at the fuel filter since it's easy to get to. If it's still low after that you may be looking at dropping the tank to replace the pump. You can get a fuel pressure gauge and pretty much any parts store for ~$20.

Also, chainge the fuel filter... Could be restricted, causing presure to build up slowly...

I did a fuel pump install... I won't do it again. I would rather pay some one next time... If you do need one, you might be able to add an inline booster pump. Just something to think about ! Good Luck ! Bill
