Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
First mods/to do list...
Picked up my '00 Formy A4 last week, I can't wait to start working on it.
Here's my to do list:
It's got 65k, so I think these things probably need to be done.
Mobil 1 oil change
MSD wires and Delco Iridium plugs (I've read those were the way to go)
Fuel Filter
Mods:
(I'm calling this "stage 1")
Lid, probably SLP, w/a paper filter.
Free mods, not sure about TB bypass and FRA though.
cut-out
GMS SFC's (can't beat the group buy price!)
Sound like a good start?
Anything I'm forgetting?
Thanks!

I do belive that the SLP LID does nothing unless you put a KN in there...
and um...Congratulations on getting your Formy!

Pewter- 2000 Firehawk #506 A4
The lid will flow better than the stock one no matter what kind of filter you have. It'll just flow even more with a K&N or similar.

A paper filter with a lid is just fine. Seeing that most people let their k&n get really dirty before cleaning them you'll be better off putting a fresh paper in there every 2 or 3 oil changes. Amsoil also sells a synthetic filter which doesn't require oil....you just vacuum it for a cleaning. Not only does it flow good but it's faster to clean, less mess, you don't have to worry about over oiling and they claim it filters better then a oil or foam filter.
Link-- https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx I think yours is the EAA83 filter...double check that thoughLast edited by SeVeReDiStOrTiOn; 09-07-2007 at 08:58 PM.

Oh that sounds good, thanks for the info! I'll have to check that one out.
And your right, I had about 50k on the K&N in my Jeep before I cleaned it, that thing was NASTY. I let that thing soak most of the day, I had to change the water about 10 times before it was clean.
I read the GMHTP free mods article.....so those plus a lid ought to equal about 15-20 extra RWHP?

I'll let you know once I hit the Dyno again...
... hehe... but yeah maybe 10whp... 15 on the good side... I can't really tell you a baseline of what I had compared to just the lid and free mods...cause I had a bad missfire...and lost power... but I'll just throw the numbers your way so you have an idea
