    Sadly now demodded :(

It's made from shell case steel. This was due to a shortage of copper during WWII. Worth a bit more than a penny depending on it's condition.

I collect old coins. I never actually go out of my way looking or buying old coins, just if one falls on my lap i keep it. It all started when my mother worked at a bank as a teller and one day she opened up a roll of Quarters, Dimes and Nickels and every single coin was from 1900-1940. It still had the original wrapping from the 40's. Too bad she had to torn it open. So what she did was, she replaced them with her own money and brought them home to me.

I also had a Crisp $500 bill.....my uneducated about currency mother took it in the bank....well what she didnt know that the $500 bill actually is worth almost $2,000

She got it by mistake when the bank cashed in her check and the confused the $500 for a $50.

the sad part is that $500 bill is now destroyed by the bank.

I would't be so sure about that, someone probably swiped that if they were smart or its in some kind of museum or collection.
