Kenne Bell
Hey I noticed most LS1 guys w/ FI use Procharger, Vortec or some type of turbo. Just wondering why no one uses the twin screw blower by Kenne Bell. With the instant boost it seems like a viable alternative to one of the other forms of forced induction.

Yea even the vettes need a cowl hood to fit one. But our cars would need much more than that. Too bad b/c that supercharger is one of the nicer ones. Ever driven an 03+ cobra?

Yeah I have driven an 03 cobra and I could only imagine how much better it would be in an LS1 that has another 60 cubic inches. Seems like the torque would be pretty insane, even w/ lower boost levels. That sucks that it won't fit though but thanks for letting me know.

Man 500rwtq at only 2200rpms, makes me think the custom work involved might actually be worth it.

Lots of misinformation here. Roots and twin screw are completely different, although they look quite similar from the outside. Roots is an air pump, and twin screw is a compressor. Both are positive displacement types that will give lots of boost right off idle as opposed to centrifugal types where boost rises with RPM. Twin screws are substantially more efficient than Roots pumps. The forthcoming Eaton AVS series will be a major improvement in Roots efficiency.
The article linked above with the Fbod is a Eaton Roots, not a twin screw.
Not much twin screw activity on LSx cars because:
A. 4th gen Fbodies dominate the LSx scene, and the motor placement rules it out for all but the most ambitious people armed with a Sawzall, cutting torch, and a couple sticks of dynomite.
B New GTO's have room for one, but their sales numbers are too small to get KB or Whipple interested in building a kit. My GTO has a Starr Performance / Whipple twin screw from Australia. It works exceedingly well, but it's expensive.
C. Vettes will work, with a different hood. The KB kit for the Vette is excellent. The only thing that gets anyone interested in making kits for the low production Vettes is the "Corvette Tax" which makes them economically viable in low numbers. Unfortunately pulley offsets are different than Fbod / GTO, so they don't benefit from products developed for Vettes.World's only twin screw Pontiac GTO

I noticed someone on ls1tech put one of those mangachargers on an fbody but like you said they had to cut the cowl and for the perfomance it didnt' seem like it was worth it when you can just bolt on a procharger or turbo and make more power for less money. I know there was talk of the new camaro having an option for a supercharged motor....guess I'll just have to hold out for the new one then. Hopefully it won't be like $70K though!

HP / dollar isn't always the best way to rate an engine modification. Area under the curve is far more indicitave of real world performance than peak numbers. A 2 Liter 4 banger turbo ricer may pop 600 RWHP with enough boost, but the powerband is often uselessly narrow. That having been said, I don't thing the results from putting an Eaton M112 variant into an Fbody justify all the work involved. The blower just isn't that good. Small twin turbos can produce far more low end torque than most Procharger / Vortech setups and would definitely be my power adder of choice in a 4th gen Fbody.

i agree with the above but the fact that the kenne bell 2.4 produces earth shattering torque WAY early is enough to thoroughly intrigue me. i love the fact that it can run SO much boost (yes i know its a twin screw) and still have that power right off the line. too bad so much modification is involved because i could probably justify it in regards to a single turbo system up front.
but i personally would do twins, which would put the kb blower and a tt set at right around the same price, respectively.
though im sure the kb would be more expensive with the custom work involved....
sad.

Area under the curve
I have always said this about street driven cars, since they spend the majority of their life "under the curve"
