dirty oil everywhere
ok guys. helping a friend tear down his 305. all of his spark plugs are drenched in oil and he is burning tons of it. so we started to take everything off. the intake manifold looked good ect. the rockers and push rods are in good shape...but has dirty oil deposits on them. however the oil around the springs ect is grainy and pitch black. so whats the deal with it?

bad rings and probably bad valve guides. Basically rebuild the block and the heads. Then put the heads on a 350 instead so don't rebuild. Get a small block 350.
