I am looking at getting the WS6 hood as well and when i asked about the air box, This guy told me i should try to get a ram air box from a ws6 to get best effect but since i havent done any of it yet i am not 100% positive on that.

Firehawk hoods are not from GM they are made by SLP. ASC made the WS6 hoods for GM.
The WS6 hood uses the taller air box the Firehawks did not.
So which hood did you get is the real question.
I have a Standard Formula which I installed a factory WS6 hood on, and I still have the standard airbox. The Hoods are for looks they don't offer any real performance gain.Craig

I have a debaffled hood and saw virtually no performance gain.
I agree that it will help get cooler air to the engine but there is no ram air effect cause the system is not sealed. And even if it was sealed you would have to be doing 100 plus mph to get any benifit. My point is the gain is not worth the expense. I picked up my WS6 hood for 250 bucks so I couldn't pass it up, otherwise I never would of got one.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5050758&rd=1,1 heres the web address,my bad..i know these are SLP hoods, not GM but it is the real deal.i dont expect any noticable rwhp gains just want to get the most out of what i have..i did buy it primarily `cause i luv the look of them anyway.and no i didnt know i was going to have to modify my bumper
any idea how serious a job that is?thanx for your input

Yeah that's a hawk hood alright, looks good. Basically your going to have to install the hood on the car and line it up the best you can without fully closing it then mark the nose where you have to cut. I'm not sure if the safety latch lever will transfer from your stock hood though, It did on mine but the hawk hoods are quite a bit different.
