eliminating the check engine light
I have a code for an oxygen sensor and I don't want to replace it (it's 1996 2 cats). The car runs fine and I tried to clear it and it keeps coming back. My question is how could I make it go alway so it doesn't come back? Is there a wire that I could cut under the dash? Thanks

I would just replace the sensors and be done with it. It will get better gas mileage with them replaced and not throwing the code. I wouldn't recommend trying to disable the check eng light in case something else goes wrong.

I don't exacly remember what the code said, but it was something had to do with bank 2. So just now i replaced the bank 2 sensor and it didn't make a difference, so I put the old sensor back in. tomorrow I'll try to replace one of bank 1 sensors.
It would still be nice to know how to disable the check engine light by cutting a wire or some other way manually.

Was it Bank 2 Sensor 1 or Sensor 2???
Bank 2 Sensor 1 is the important one!
Bank 2 Sensor 2 is after the cat and not important.
