a.i.r. pump replacement
My air pump has been howling occasionally for almost a year now and finally gave it up today--threw a light and i had it read--"secondary air induction system" or whatever it says... I know some of you have removed the whole system from your car; and though I plan to replace it maybe you could give me some pointers on what i need to do. The shop wanted 350.00 for the job, but it seems like it would be a pretty staight forward job i could do myself. Also, i found a pump online for right under 100.00; that seem about right? Thanks for any advice!

Yes, it's a very easy job. The pump is behind the drivers side headlight. Let me look in the shed and see if I can find my old one and I'll cut you a better deal on it.

awesome!!! Thanks guys!!! And just because you've made me curious, what would be the benefit of removing the system??? Just throw me a PM when/if you find your old pump and let me know what you want for it!

You could also leave it intact if needed for visual inspection, remove the AIR PUMP fuse, have the air codes turned off.

The only way they would see it is if they unscrewed the screws in the bottom of the nose.. right? I mean that thing was so tucked away it wasn't funny.

Can it wait until this weekend when I can climb up into the top of my shed and dig it out? I have it in a tote up there. If you can wait that long I'll send it to you for free if you'll reimburse me for shipping or trade me something you have laying around you don't want, what do you have?
Doesn't have to be car parts.

Yes sir! I can definately deal with a light for a little bit for a deal like that! And I'll look through what i've got sitting around this weekend and see if there's anything you might be interested in. Thanks!
