Need help with some upgrades for an a4
I want to add a stall. I know once you get the stall, you should get a shift kit for it. Some have said you need a trans cooler also, is this true? I was also thinking of getting different gears. Maybe a 373. Would you guys recommend this? Just looking for a good setup. Also if i get the shift kit and i shift the a4 manualy through 1 to drive, will it take away the hesitation and shift fast? Thanks guys.
Oh yea my current setup is:
BG Ram air
SLP Airbox (k&N Filter)
Smooth bellow
Pacesetter LT's and ORY
GMMG Exhaust

A cooler is more of a priority than a shift kit with a stall. Heat is what kills automatic trannies, and stalls produce more heat. If you don't put a cooler on with the stall, you can kiss your tranny adios fairly quickly.
People with automatic trannies don't typically go bigger than 3:73s, thats pretty much the optimal gearing for an automatic.
You should avoid the manual shifting. With a stall and possibly gears, your car is going to shift fast enough for you.

Don't forget to upgrade the clutch basket because that is a weak link... I'm using the BEAST basket with a 4600 stall, and no shift kit. Just some programming !!!

I have 17in rims and went with 555r Nitto DRs and got them for 155, but had a friend that worked there so they would have been 185...I love them btw, if your going to be doing street driving and still want the car to turn corners but hook up when your at a dead stop go with Nittos, MT are a real soft but if your only going to be driving at the track I would go with them...

Your not gonna be able to manual shift a 4L60E tranny unless you put in a manual valve body. A shift kit will allow you to stay in and gear you want to. However when you push the gear selector from first to 2nd don't expect it to shift on comand it won't happen. The E in 4L60E stands for electronic and the only thing that controls the shift points is the CPU. You need a tranny cooler not a shift kit and a good dyno tune to get all your shift points adjusted. All your gonna do is bang your rev limiter.

The 01 &02 models have weak flexplates, you should consider replacing it with a TCI SF29 race grade unit. You have to remove 3 of the six bolts anyway to replace the TC, you might as well remove the remaing bolts as long as you are in there.
