2002 SS or 99-01 Cobra?
Alright guys,
I am currently torn between two of my favorite cars. The Camaro SS and the Mustang. I have 4 Favorite (Practical AKA Not Saleen S7) cars. EVO, Mustang, STI, and the Camaro SS. I currently have a 99 Mustang GT, and am completely bored with it. Its a great car, respectably quick, reliable, and sounds simply amazing. However I came from a 313 WHP SRT-4 that would make my Stang look like a terd in a race.
So I have come down to a Black Cobra, or a Black Camaro SS (No WS6, I think they're fugly IMO) The Cobra will be the N/A one that the SCed one unfortunately. Which would you choose? Which do you think is faster? Which is more reliable? Which is better for mods?
Which would you choose if you had the chance?
Brand new 01 Cobra?
Or a Brand New 02 Camaro SS?
Lets not be biased here. Have an open mind. If your a die hard chevy guy, well simply don't post. I would like logic, not a "FORD SUCKS" hick comment.

Screw it,
Just researched for a little while.
2001 Cobra:
Horsepower: 320 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 317 ft-lbs @ 4750 rpm
Curb Weight 3430 lbs
2000 Camaro SS:
Horsepower: 320 hp @ 5200 rpm
Torque: 345 ft-lbs @ 4400 rpm
Curb Weight 3306 lbs
Not to mention the Camaro get better gas milage as well.
Well it time I start searching for a Camaro.

Black on black.- 2001 WS6 M6 (stock)
The SS will trap about 5mph faster and run about .75 quicker at the track. Oh...it gets better mileage. Responds better to mods, is cheaper to mod, wont ht on insurance like an SVT car, urmmm...lets see, what else...
265whp vs. 300whp...you do the math.

I know.... well atleast the Cobra is a cool name?
I almost bought a 99 Cobra today, but I backed out at the last second. It was a nice car, but I know I can do better. I am just gonna hafta drive a Z28/SS, and see how I like both driving wise.

welcome to the light side. : ) I wanted a mustang, till I realized that Camaros are better for the buck.

on my side of town, you will find a 99 GT with Flows on every street, but when you do see an SS, it is a garage queen. My Z is my daily driver for 4 yrs, 168,300 miles later (knock on wood) it hasn't left me stranded yet. I'm so proud of it, but if your not looking for a daily driver, and i were you, i would go for the SS cuz you've already had a mustang before.
my 2 cents

The car would be my Daily Nice Weather Driver. My Hyundia Accent would be my shitty weather driver. 76 WHP TRUE STORY!!!! Forget the Torque #s.
Went with my buddy who drives a SRT-4, and the owner of the Dyno wanted to see what my Accent would dyno at. hahaha
I am so split between the two. It will take me longer to get an SS, and I don't want to settle for the Z28. I could buy a Cobra right now if I wanted to. The nice thing is the Cobra will have lesser miles then the Camaro.

18D Cock Diesel- 1999 Z28; 98 SS #2043 RIP
Well...
The thing is, most people end up making the same mods and spending just as much money as if they got an SS.
Why not just get an SS??? Just my opinion!

ss's are way over priced i got my 99 z28 flawless condition with 55k miles on it for 9500. I couldnt touch a ss with that kind of miles on it for 12k

Black on Black- 2000 Camaro SS M6
Hey bro! I think I can give you a good idea. I had a 99 GT as well until i bought my 2000 SS. HUGE difference! 6 speed instead of 5 allows me to run .410 gears and still cruise long distance. Not too expensive to mod. MUCH better handling. Remember the the 99 has the same chassis as a 79 ford ...something (i dont remember what the car was). Anyways, just with shocks and springs my SS pulls .90 on the skidpad. All in all, im not biased, i like fords too, and would pick my SS again in a heartbeat over a cobra if given a chance. As a closing note, remember...There is no replacement for displacement. Good luck and keep us posted!

Black on black.- 2001 WS6 M6 (stock)
Not true, keep looking. I bought my tripple black WS6 M6 with 72K on the odo for 12K+TTL. It is NOT! ragged out. Called the old owner and it was some old guy who drove 20 miles each way to work on HWY 35 every day and never even took it to the strip. Car is MINT! I now have 79,800 miles on it and have replaced minor things, but nothing really "wear" related. (Damn fuel pump was a BITCH! though).
Keep looking unitl you find what you want or when you pull up on it at a street light you will be bitter.
