Black- 1999 Camaro Z28
1999 Z28 vs 1978 Corvette
So, I've raced my dad before. We both have raced on street tires. My Z28 has run 13.2. I have a LS6 Intake, Ram Air, Catback, 3.90 gears, and it's a six speed. His vette has aftermarket heads, cam, intake, exhaust, and it's a 4 speed. He has run a 14.1.
Were going back to the track...i got drag radials. He put a 100 shot of NOS and drag shocks. I think I should run like a 12.8-12.9. Do you think he will beat me?? If he got drag radials...then he should get me, right?

you should be alright... the tracks all about seat time. On street tires i was launching my car at about 3,000. I don't side step the clutch, I just let it out kinda fast. I shift at about 5,500rpms-5,800rpms. If you get use to your car you should run that. Just remember not to drive through the water! and try not to make the street tires gummy. Sounds like fun. Good luck!
I got a weed wacker motor running off juice in my car!

My dad did get drag radials. So here's the changes:
Vette - was 14.1 @98...just installed 100 shot of nos, 90/10 drag shocks, and drag radials.
Z28 - was 13.2 @108...just installed drag radials.
I think he's gonna have enough to beat me now. What do the people with experience with nitrous, think?

just watch that you don't brake your rear. with drag radials, I'm launching at 5,000, and I"m getting about 1.7's-1.8's 60' times. you should still be fine. a 100 shot only helps for about 7 tenths of a sec. at least thats what i have seen. could be more, but i never seen it. If i was you, I wouldnt be worked up at all.

Your launching at 5,000 rpm on drag radials or slicks? Do you still have the 10 bolt? Also, what gears do you have in it? Thanks for the help!
