Ties: Clip On vs. Regular
I don't see what the big damn deal is about clip on ties making the wearer seem pathetic. I don't know about you guys but I hate that noose feeling that regular ties give me. I don't wear a tie unless I go to a funeral or something but I will have to wear one regularly as an attorney. What are your thoughts on this "extremely important" issue? Are clip ons okay or not?

Clip on ties are for kids. Real men can tie a windsor blindfolded!

Nope. I hardly wear a tie, so I haven't memorized how to yet, but when I need to I just google it.

Gotta love a world where you an google how to tie a tie.
My favorite comment is yours Eddierox!! Now you're talkin.
Of course, that might work better with someone you know.
Never seen a chick on the street ask to be tied up by a stranger....but what do I know!
I was gonna vote No till U guys pointed out the dangerous jobs that require ties. Now I'm conflicted!

I never have to wear a tie (Im a mechanic) but my son and I like to dress in coat and ties and go to Bone Daddys or Hooters. Chicks seem to dig guys who dress.
Or maybe they think we have $$$

I usually wear a tie to work even though it is business casual and many of my co-works opt not to. It doesn't take long to get used to it and the benefits (manager's/partner's perception) make it worthwhile in my case.
Haven't had a clip-on since I was around 6 years old.

never a clip on ... A tie is very easy and does not make your collar tight around your neck ... It is the collar not the tie ...

i'd say it depends on the situation... if you work at some half assed retail store why the hell not... if you're going to apply for a job i'd go with a regular tie... if i went to a wedding and was going to the reception i'd go with a clip on... how ever i don't own a clip on...

Do not bother with a tie they are out of style now any ways.
Our generation has the collar undone at the top button even when wearing a suit!

Not in court they don't, unfortunately. If I entered a court room as an attorney without a tie I would be in trouble. See "My Cousin Vinny" for a great example, lol.
