QTP Longtube Header install questions"specific"
I am installing QTP 1-3/4" long tube headers with 3/8" flanges and high volicity merge collectors. Amazingly, I got all the factory stuff off in under 2 hours (a feat that would be impossible with my previous LT1) .
1)I was wondering if anyone had already installed these specific brand headers, cause I know not every brand is exactly the same? Any pointers?
2)Did you have to modify any of the heat shields?
3)My factory exhaust manifolds gaskets have 30,000 miles on them. They are in great shape and they are the GM style. Any one reuse them?
4)QTP LTH's have 3/8" flanges, so I was wondering if using the factory manifold bolt would be a good idea?

Since you have them off, you might as well get new header gaskets. Cheap insurance I think. Make sure you get OE metal ones.
And I wouldn't reuse the factory hearder bolts. You can use the ones supplied with the headers or get some from ARP or something.

take the driver side up from under neath the car. take the header and angle as if it is standing up on the Merge collector, carefully take it up then rotate it so the merge collector is now at the back of the engine.......just my .02$ that is what we had to do with a set of kooks on a buddy's car. No fitment issues with my pacesetters.

Just finished with the LEFT header. MotherF_cker! What a B.I.T.C.H.!
I had to jack the left side of the engine up, pull the tranny to the right, and use a rubber hammer to beat her in.

My passenger side qtp hits the k member as well. I'm going to put a tube k member in this summer. I went with the stage 8 locking bolts, they are a pain to get to but worth the time of not having to retighten...
