going to purchase first Z28
Hello to all, I am from the Detroit area been in search of a z28 for some time; having to manage my 6cyl mainly doing mods for looks i.e custom paint, subs etc.... i finally found a good deal on a Z with a trade in on my car and some cash, and it is exactly what ive been looking for. Remind you i stay in michigan and the car is in dayton which is about 2 1/2 hours away. The car is coming from a small used car dealer, and they say the trans is slipping a little, but everything else is in perfect condition. Im not that familiar with the Lt1's but my mechanic says that he could do a transmission tune-up(whatever that is) and the car should be fine....What do you guys think? can i make it back to detroit if i dont punch it and drive carefully? how serious is the trans slipping?

well you can probably make it home. But i wouldn't buy a car with a fucked trans unless i got a killer deal.

Tranny probably needs to be rebuilt, simple as that. Should be able to drive it, but have a backup plan in case.

Okay you guys, just got her home 95 Z 100,000 miles Borla Exhaust, headers, K&n, etc..... Turned out that the lady didnt know what she was talking about....it wasnt the trans. Car had been sitting for a while, and needs a tune ,which I was going to do in the morning anyway...i will post pics when i get the chance...
P.S Is there any quieter exhaust than Borla, my head is hurtin right now, lol

Isn't it the adjustable cat-back? Just get the plates (find them on e-bay) and stick with which one you like the best.

a good transmission rebuild for an automatic is probably around 1,700. Maybe they should be paying you to take it off their hands.
