Drivetrain problems with wider tires?
Have any of you guys had any problems with either your t-56 or your stock 10-bolt rear with some nice tires say close to 315's or Corvette tires? I want to run these but I'm worried about the rear and the tranny, now how about with a supercharger?

Since I have been running 295's I have broken a set of 4.10's, broken an early model BMR torque arm (mounted to welded subframe), and snapped a POS axle on the left side. Other than that, no problems. Oh yeah, and with 4.10's it whines like a gd freight train.

BMR track suspension, full exhaust, the works...
412whp/394wtq 1/4 mile slip coming soon!

So you have about 500 at the flywheel, and those tires still let go pretty easy?

All the way through second, up to about 65 mph or so. Big tires. Stock tires, hell, prolly spin up to 100 mph...in third.

lets face it.... some drivers can break a rear on STOCK HP....
its ALL in the WAY you drive the car....!
my last 2 f-bodys had 4:10's.... NO NOISE, NO PROBLEMS....
and my last 400rwhp SS had 4:10's, stock clutch, and i NEVER had 1 problem with the drive train.
but i am a carful driver. easy on take-offs.... , never power shift, no burnouts......etc....
there was a local guy about 2 years ago i saw put 650+rwhp down on the dyno and he was still running the STOCK rear!315rwhp 98 SILVER Z28 (3500lbs)- SOLD
400rwhp 99 HUGGER SS (3375lbs)- SOLD
340rwhp 02 YELLOW Z06 (3040lbs)

Well I guess if the wheels break free easy and dont break anything with your 500hp, it wont make much of a difference with my 676hp. If the tires break free, they break free. And as long as thats the weakest link......I'm a thirdgen guy but I'd like a stock t56 and keep the stock rear, that's your drivetrain. I wouldnt beat the hell out of it too often, but there would be the occasional pony and ricer smoker.
What about having a clutch that slips just a little, that would help some driveline shock.
You guys run aftermarket axles though correct?

Everytime my rear end had problems, it was usually at the track or shortly afterward. During hard, dragstrip style launches.
I didn't spend all that money to baby it.
But it is beginning to look like I will have to spend more for a 12-bolt.
