Headlight Cleaning

My headlights have now developed a haze on, or in, them. Any advice on what to use in order to clean them?

So I assume that, although the haze appears to be internal, it is actually external? I haven't paid much attention to it until my last show and it really bothers me. What causes the haze to appear on the lens? Strange...

Otherwise try plastix or even just buffing it with some light buffing compound.

Its the plastic that they use. I happens to alot of cars. But if it gets too bad wet sanding is the next step or replacement.

Agreed. Its an excellent product, it cleans just about any clear plastic as long as it isn't physically damaged/pitted/ect.

I'm enroute to the auto store. Thanks guys I really appreicte it. The car looks pretty good but I HATE the hue and it doesn't help me at the car shows!

i have heard if you use the shit like gojo that you use to clean your hands with after a dirty day at the shop, that will take the haze out

I use Zaino Plastic cleaner and my lights still look good.

Once they are really bad, I would look into just buying new headlights. I have spent alot of money on another car I had and never did look great, yes it made them look better, but never like new. I used special polish, buffer etc... When I messed up my headlights on the z28, I just bought the halo lights. Was cheaper than the stock ones and I liked the halo look. I haven't looked into the z28 lights to polish them since my past attempts failed, but most lights have a protective coating in the lense and once this is hazy, then there is no real way to fix it unless the coating is stripped off, then the actual lense will haze if not kept up.

It's caused from UV exposure, and there are lots of products that can fix it, PlastiX being my favored.

If they're real bad, you should just pick up a kit of headlight restorer from an auto store, like $15-20 and it'll come with the proper grain sand paper, polish, and sealer. From what I've seen, it gets it right back to normal.

Another vote for Meguiar's PlastX. It works real good on tail lights. On headlights it requires a bit more work. Another stuff that works very effectively on the headlights is the Novus 1-2-3 system. I haven't tried Zaino glass cleaner
For all you zaino lovers, I hear Z2 works great on glass too. It can be used to protect your glass and aluminum wheels. I personally use RejeX paint sealant. Generally these days, a paint sealant can be used pretty much on other areas besides just paint; glass, metal, etc...

Generally speaking, when it comes down to glass, and plastic, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernails, it's too deep to remove. You may find products that may level the imperfection a little bit more so on plastic than it would on glass, but still it's almost impossible to fix.
If it's mild you may be able to reduce the damage a little bit. PlastX has done a good job on plastic for me on mid surface swirls, and very mild scratches. You need to work it in until hazed, and repeat until you start to see improvements
