    Best sounding catback < $400

Just looking for some opinions regarding the best sounding catback system that can be bought for under $400. It will be put on a 2000 WS6 with stock manifolds and y-pipe. If you have videos/sound clips to back up opinions thats always nice.

    $400 or less:

Dynomax Super Turbo ($290 Summit Racing)
Edelbrock RPM Series Cat-Back ($290 Summit Racing)
    Flowmaster American Thunder ($300 TSP)
Hooker 3" Cat back ($324 LMPerformance)
    TSP Rumbler ($225 TSP)

Add anything you know of to the list. Thanks.

Well, from what I know and have read/heard.....Flowmaster sounds great, nice "Cackle" to it, but flows like shit. Hooker without headers is louder than stock and flows great, but WO headers it doesn't really "Wake up" The others I don't know about........

How bout SLP Loudmouth? What are they running nowadays? Peeps usually rave about the LM with stock manifolds. With headers though it can be raspy and obnoxious loud.

I have the SLP Loudmouth 1 and bought it a few years back. I think it was around $350 at the time, I can't be for certain. My car is stock but you would never be able to tell with as loud and powerful as it sounds with the SLP LM1 Catback!

Hooker flows nice, get a set of headers down the line and it will really wake it up. Also give it a few weeks to "break in" when you get it on there. From everything I've read Hooker takes a few weeks to get rumbling. Good luck

If I had a sound clip I would send it. You can find them all over the internet if you search for them. Sound clips do this exhaust system no justice though, you need to hear the thing in real life. It's honestly a freakin MONSTER!

Unless you are running full length open headers I have not heard of anything louder or more mean and aggressive than the LM1 off of stock manifolds!

Check out ebay. I bought my lm1 off of there and it was like brand new. It is the newer style that can be changed easily. I paid like $150 for it shipped the only thing is that it did not come with tips but that was no big deal to me. I am running my lm1 with factory manifolds and cats for now and I love the sound.

    I owned a LM1 years ago.

I told myself I wouldn't mod much past exhaust and lid.
Well...I ended up hacking off that terrible sounding catback once I modded beyond that.
    Sounded great with stock manifolds.
    Sounded decent with LT's.
Sounded HORRIBLE with LT's and a cam.

I vote for the Magnaflow catback. It sounds great, flows great, and is stainless steel.

I have the HookerCB and love the sound. It seems to break in after a few weeks and sounds great.
