Flat Tire
I got a flat tire this weekend so now Im going to have to get a new one. Several people have told me that I need to buy TWO new tires so that the car isnt out of balance. Right now the tires I have are 275/40zr17 Eagle F1 tires. They are at about half tred and have been recently rotated. Should I get two tires to prevent any balance/damage issues in the future or will I be ok putting on just one new tire?
thanks,
BOOSTD

I have never heard of such a thing, If you are that concerned about it, purchase one tire, and have it installed on the rear of the vehicle, and install 2 equally worn tires on the front.

only thing i can think of only buying one tire would cause is the car to pull to one side, since your other tire has half tread left on it the diameter would be different. be kinda like have one tire low on pressure.

the amount of tread missing on the worn tire is not going to make a big enough differnce to pull your car to one side. now it might lose grip easier on hard acceleration and powerslide a littel but its very controlable. and its fun to watch

its always good to have 2 equally worn tires at either end of the car. ie bad handling and pulling problems. not to mention limited slip diffs like 2 equal tires in the rear. the 2 new tires is a good idea but not absolutely positively necessary if your'e economically challenged.

It's bull, just get a replacement tire to replace the flat one.
The old one can't be patched?
I wouldn't worry about doing two sides unless your going to be doing high end runs often with the car.
