Chrome 10 spoke wheels
Seeing how SLP does'nt offer these wheels any more, I'm thinking about having my painted wheels stripprd and polished. Has anybody had this done before?

Its a good move, but you should have them clearcoated. Be warned, in that polished wheels are a pain to keep up. If you use the car everyday, I'd say stick with the painted set because they're much easier to keep up. Polished wheels require polish cleaning either weekly or monthly in order to keep them shining like chrome. You can neglect them, but they will have a duller luster. I personally prefer polished over chrome, but they are no picnic in the maintenance dept.
The other thing that you may need to consider is the center cap. If you have your wheels polished, try not to use the chrome center cap, because the chrome surface and the polished surface will contrast, especially when the polished surface starts to oxidize a bit (like after the first day you've polished them).
Clearcoating will help the wheels stay cleaner a bit longer, and protects them against pitting and such, but the wheels will still need polishing, and with clearcoats you will need a special polish to clean them (Blue Magic, Flitz).
Just a few words of warning b4 you make the switch. The slp wheels were a nightmare because those wheels chipped badly, and they didn't finish the back drum surface, so a lot of those wheels started rusting in the drums. You would've needed to literally adhere yourself on top of those wheels, and not ever have them outside in order to maintain them. Its no surprise that they stopped carrying them, because a lot of people sent theirs back (warranty) due to chipping and other failures.
