AHHHH!!! i blew up my monsoon amp.
i was trying to hook an amp to the rear 8"s that i installed a while back, well, instead of putting the speaker wires from the amp to the 8's it went to the monsoon amp instead. the fucker started smoking and everything.
so my question is, how do i wire the speakers, to run just off the head unit? i was looking at the amp wiring diagram, could i just wire the speaker feed lines to the same speaker's return line?

Can you explain what "feed lines" and "return lines" are? In my 30+ years of dealing with car stereo I've never heard speaker wiring described using these terms.

sure, looking at the wiring diagram, for the amp, and the "pin" for the plug in, it shows "right rear feed line" "right rear return line" etc... i'm just reading it off the guide i have.

i just want to beable to run the speakers off the head unit. how can i do that for the time being, with out running new speaker wire all over the car. after hacking off the amp adapter, how do i hook the wires up to get them to play?
p.s.
i have no intentions of going back to stock.

I'd have to see this guide you have. The only time I've seen "send" and "return" used for signal pathes is the FX loop in a guitar amplifier.
If you had a multimeter with a continuity checker you could use the process of elimination to determine which wires are which.
I still think new wiring is the way to go. The factory wiring is on the small side. That and you wouldn't have any splices in your speaker wires either. I'm a purist when it comes to my audio systems. I like to go with larger guage wires and no splices.

I was under the impression that you can't just run speakers off the head unit in a Monsoon system.
I replaced EVERYTHING in mine...
Alpine CDA7998 HU
Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.5 components in the doors.
Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.5 Coaxials in the sail panels.
Infinity 10" Perfect sub, the best one they make... I'm changing to an Alpine Type X soon, if I can't get the sub to sound better...
Infinity 500 watt 4 Channel.... Changing that soon too... shuts down too soon. Not loud enough.
Infinity 1500 watt Mono block.... This thing is BADASS!
and a Half Farad Cap and all new wires(all Monster Cable).
But this thing retailed around $3500. If I hadn't gotten most of it for free, I wouldn't have gone that high end.
I put together a system for my brother that retailed for about $1700 and it sounds better than mine currently. That's why I'm thinking of changing the sub and four channel amp....
Oh and I can still use my steering wheel controls.

you would basically have to take out the amp and use a special wiring harness (I've seen them before,) that just directly connects the wires that go INTO the amp, to the wires that were supposed to come OUT of the monsoon amp...
no big deal, other than your headunit will probably shit bricks when it sees a 2ohm load on all four channels...
do yourself a favor, and keep those gains down..
