Sunset Orange Metallic- 2001 Camaro SS
I'd save my money and just get a lid! No real power advantage by either over a good high flow lid.
2001 SS - 430 RWHP 412 RWTQ
6 spd, FIPK, Corsa exhaust, LS7 clutch, Dart Pro PP LS1 heads, custom 220/224 cam, Kooks LT's. Ported TB, Full suspension, C5 ZO6 brake upgrade.

The biggest factor in deciding will probably be price. I found the Fast Toys product used for a good price and that's what I got. It does help. Best results come from combining it with a lid of course.
There is a SOTP improvement. I did get slightly better milage using it. It took maybe up to 2 hours to install, but I work slow. I've driven through driving rain with no problems, but it also comes with a block off plate that can be slipped in if you deam necessary. I wouldn't take it into any kind of standing water though.
That said, I installed a lid before this device. The lid provides very good benefits by itself. If you can't get both now, get the lid first.

FTRA (probably SSRA too) will run a little bit warmer at lights in the summer, sitting in traffic - no problem if you reset your fan temps, get a manual fan switch...

doesnt the ssra hang out in the front of the car so its easy to scrape it on curbs when you park?

SSRA does hang lower. It's thought that this should improve the "ram air" effect. It's also made of plastic so it shouldn't transfer as much heat as a metal intake would.
The problems would be possible water ingestion and of course curb clearance. I've had my FTRA in torrential down pours before and the filter kept nice and dry even without the block off plate.

I have SSRA with 160 thermostat and programmer to adjust fan controls. My car never gets over 185 even in 100+ degree weather. Clearance is a minor problem but mainly with curbs The SSRA on hangs about 2" lower on the front but it is recessed back on the front about 8"
SLP lts & ORY, ssra, slp lid, gran. maf, smooth bellow, hppIII, Louth Mouth II, no cats, SLP strut tower brace & SFC's, LCA Reloc. Brackets, 1LE front sway, 3.23, A4
