Hooker Aerochamber Catback
I installed the Hooker CB. The sound is awesome to me as compared to stock. No popping/crackling just a low loping idle. WOT is great and roars. I didn't like the dual tips that came with the kit so replaced with Gibson 8" slants. The other tips looked goofy to me and hung too low. The R/H wheelwell area for the spare prevents that side from being tucked up closer to the frame so be aware of that if you buy this system for a 2000 Z28 or similar. All in all I am very pleased and looks presentable and sounds great. Paid $409 and then saw Summit had them for $357.

Thought about getting a nicer looking stainless Magnaflow, but I just can't get away from how good the Hooker sounds, so I decided to stick with it. Wish it came in stainless and polished, I would buy it in a heartbeat.Heads 'n Cammed, Moser 12, 3.73's, Weight Reduction, 13" Brembo Kit

What I like about this setup, is that if you don't want to wake up the neighborhood at 6 in the morning, you don't have too. But if you do want them to get their lazy asses outta bed, then that can be accomplished easily by pulling past 3 grand.

One more for long tubes, ory, and hooker cat-back...even the cops compliment me on the sound of my exhaust.

Madseason and I are talking about a catless Y and Longtubes with the Hooker. I have no idea what a stock LS1 with just the Hooker catback will sound like. Prolly like sh*t.

I heard the loud mouth sounds like sh*t with Longtubes and catless Y, by the way.

An inch or two below the rear bumper is about right, IMO. I like the way it looks. I thought about getting the race exhaust that dumps before the axle, but somehow I don't think the ass end will look right without any exhaust.

Hooker Exhaust How Low? Answer
As I said I had the dual 3" chrome tips that came with the package. They were 11" and entended out past the bumper slightly which made them look funny to me as compared to stock (stock being the rectangle look). I purchased Gibson 8" single 3" exit chrome tip and they fit further back of the bumper and look better to me personally. The pipes can be moved up and down because they connect to the muffer via clamps and easy to adjust. Don't forget the spare tire wheel well will prevent that side from going higher (it will hit). They are probably down 2-3 inches. Can't measure at the moment as it is pouring rain. I like the roar at WOT and idle is slightly lounder than stock. Oh, I painted the tail pipes with high temp black paint pior to installation (muffer is flat black) and they look fine to me. Not as pretty as stainless or chrome but certainly okay in my eye and cost effective. ( I am pretty picky).

Hooker CB Exhaust Pipes
I measured my Hooker CB exhaust pipe clearance. They hang 1 & 3/4 inch below the lowest part of the rear bumper. Looks good to me as I said. Good luck with whatever set-up you opt for. 2000 Z28
