My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
Fellow fboders, i need your advice
as many of you know, i had an accident with the batmobile where i bounced it out of a ditch. I had a very good body shop look at it and they quoted me $2200 for:
replace/repaint front bumper
replace/repaint driver's front fender
replace bumper reinforcement bar
repair bent frame
I'm debating on having insurance cover this or not. I'm 24, will be 25 in november. My premium should decrease sometime around then. HOWEVER, the bodyshop says that my insurance company [drive, from progressive] will send a person out, they'll see a broken fender/broken bumper and only give me money for that. The body shop could explain the frame damage until they turned puple but insurance won't cover what they can't see. PLUS MY PREMIUM WILL GO UP b/c it's an at-fault accident [no one but myself involved, no police report] My short term decision is to store the car for the summer and do the repairs either after my wedding next july or sometime between now and then. I can't justify putting a car infront of my wedding.
If anyone has been in a situation like this please give me some guidance; especially if you have/had progressive. Did your insurance skyrocket? was your agent cool?

I Saw They Cover The Frame Damage Cause That Is The Whole Reason You Have Insurance In The First Place And Why You Pay Them Incase Something Like This Happens. If I Were In Your Situation I Would Be On The Phone Non-stop Untill It Was Resolved And They Were Covering Everything And You Pay The Deductable. I Dont Think Your Premium Should Go Up Much Since Its Going To Drop In A Few Months Anyways, And If It Does Then Drop Insurance On The Car After U Get It Fixed.
The Louder You Scream About It And Let Them Know Its Getting Fixed And Your Not Paying For It The Better.

They will cover it. If they were to cheap out and not pay for TOTAL repairs it could be argued that they were responsible for putting you back on the road in an unsafe vehicle. . .LAWSUIT. They aren't only responsible for making your car look good cosmetically again, they are responsible for making sure it is safe for you and the drivers around you when you get it back on the road.
Nice monsoon diagrams by the way. . . . .

i had pretty much the same damages to my SS a few months ago i was quoted at 2800$
so you are getting a good deal, i'd report it through the insurance and make sure you have a good body shop tech going over it with the insurance company
i've never heard of insurance covering "what they can see"
the guy that did my work made sure they fixed everything that was broken
