Rear Bird FILL In

I just purchased one of the CE Trans Am Rear Bird Fill ins for my 2001 Trans Am and I cannot remove the old. Can ne one help me out here?

The 'old'?
Does it have a decal on there now?
Or is it the original equipment painted on type?
If it's original, just start with fingernail polish remover.
I would recommend removing the unit from the car if possible. It only takes a couple minutes. That way you won't spill anything else on the car.
FYI, I used to buy & sell these things as polished units all the time. But it just got too popular & there's just not enough market for them anymore.
I start by screwing it down to my workbench, then remove the old paint with the nail polish remover.
Then wet-sand with 800, then 1500, then 2000 grit wet-sand paper, keeping it wet.
Then I polish with Zaino's glass polish, then Zaino's plastic polish. They come out beautiful.
If you simply want to add a new decal, just use the nail polisher remover, then polish it, then clean it & add the decal. Then polish/wax again over the whole thing. (Decal may have problems adhering if you don't clean the unit properly before applying the decal.)

i think he can't get the panel off-but thanks for the write up, i'll be using that in the next few weeks [once the rain stops]

open your hatch,
pull back the carpet against the back of the t-top well to expose the screws for the lights and center fill panel.

Remove the first 2 or 3 screws from each light on either side of the fill panel and then remove the fill panel screws. It's pretty easy to figure out everything once the carpet is moved away.

Ok well im basically up shyt creek. I pulled it the whole thing out like you said. I used nail polish on the paint it came off fine. But I order a CE Trans Am Bird Fill in.. This means it wouldnt fit the original thing, so I started sanding the trans am and bird outline off with 200 grit sandpaper. Once I was done I waxed its 3 times and thought it was fine. Being that was waxing in a low light garage. I put the decal on and not until I began putting it back in did I realize that i had scratch the he!! out of it and the wax didnt do ne good.

Can you tell me how to fix this. Im assuming 2000 grit sandpaper and some zainos glass and plastic polish? If this is the case, can i pick up a bottle of zainos at the local autozone?

1st off, decals can't stick to wax

Ok well.

1st- I wasnt trying to stick them to wax.

2nd I fixed my problem with some Turtle Ice Polish.
