Someone tried to steal my car

I left my 4th-Gen Bird parked more than 24 hours on a city street with limited lighting. When I went to drive it at night, a bobby pin fell out from somewhere in the door as I opened it. Someone must not have seen the steering wheel lock, the interior mess, and the moderate dings on the car. Maybe the would-be criminal thought it was a new Mustang or something. I guess that person was interrupted somehow and left fast.

Uggh. No real point to this post, other than that a device like a club is always good to use.

I'm thinking they tried to steal it because it likely has a Washington Redskins sticker in the back window.

    I don't besmirch an F-body with stickers.

I forgot - the car also has the built-in alarm, which I don't know can be triggered by tampering with the door lock.

Most car thieves don't car about interior mess or dings. The most commonly stolen cars are older model accord and civics. My guess would be once they saw your club or "steering wheel lock" as you put it they probably said F%^& it.

Do 4th gen cars have value to thieves as parted out? The dings would suggest the car is either neglected under the hood or is being driven into the ground; while many parts remain available from GM and aftermarket sources.
