Motor Trend/Randy Pobst with the Z06 at Laguna
Not passing judgment. I want to see this car succeed, but what the fuck? Discuss....

Light Pewter Metallic- y2k 8-cylinder catfish
I think it's safe to say the C7 Z06 has problems. That's a terrible lap time for a car engineered with that much power. And I read in the comments that others are having the same problem, so it wasn't something specific to this yellow one that was tested?

Not sure, I've been hearing rumors of under par gas issues and worn out brakes. A couple people over on CF who are supposedly connected with GM say "they know from reliable sources" what the issue(s) are..but of course say they can't say at the moment.

It's sad to see a test like that when you know what the z06 is capable of.

Pobst basically said that time isn't valid, which is obvious. I'm sure he'll make another run once the problem(s) are corrected

One would think that Team Corvette would have figured a fix by now.

You would think. Dodge/SRT went through a similar blunder when the Gen V Viper came out. The Viper SRT sent to MT was a preproduction car and from what I understand had loose seats, mismatched tires, suspension parts off of a different car, etc. I forget the turn around time on how long it took Ralph to straighten that mess out HOWEVER- it forced them to build a better car (the TA). Now, not saying that the mess with the Z06 will force GM to build a different model (ZR1), but I'm sure they are working on a solution to the current situation.

Its been what, just shy of one model year since this problem started? Thats an eternity for an issue like this, even longer for people who were thinking about buying a Z06 over another high performance product. Not good for a performance product like that, I wonder how many Vipers and GTRs were/ will bought in its stead?

Well I'm sure GM knows their market, and their market might not be the youtube watcher that we all are, correct? Who all has seen this video in this thread and doesn't own one or intend to own a new z06?
I'd assume their marketing team knows what matters and what doesn't. I just know when I go to buy a car (I never buy new anyways) I wouldn't rely on one youtube video to determine whether I bought it or not.
As bad as it looks, I don't think it really matters in the grand scheme of things. Or am I misinformed and every z06 performs this way? I mean, the car had 0 power going up the back hill.

The Z06 potential buyers market might not be wstching YouTube, but I am sure theyve read at least one of the articles from Motor Trend, Cat and Driver, etc...
Also, I'd go as far as to say GMs weak spot is marketing. The third and fourth gen F bodies were contstantly getting beat in sales by the Mustang, especially at times when the Mustang was a worse performing car and not really the comparitve value. These are also the same guys who thought the SSR would attract 4th gen Fbody owners who wanted to replace thier car after GM killed the Fbody. Lets not forget the poor (almost non-existent) marketing placement/effort they did with the 2004-2006 GTO.
Lets face it GM can make the cars, most of them are worthwhile to own and better values, but thier marketing arm/planning truely sucks.

I 100% agree with you. GM needs to do a much better job at marketing.
If you look at the sales of the 4th gen, they completely plummeted and obviously we all know the 4th gen was far superior to the Mustang in probably every category. Some might think the Cobra was was better in '03-'04, which might be true, but it's not really a fair comparison since there was no 4th gen produced during that time.
Putting the Camaro in movies years before it's release definitely helped the 5th gen out for sure.
The automatic looks like it could be quite boring to drive, but to each their own. I don't care much for the look of a stock c7, but this z06 is pretty

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things to the vast majority of Corvette owners who don't track their cars. 99% of Z07 package cars ordered will never see the track. Their owners buy them for bragging rights at Cars & Coffee, which is who GM caters to. They aren't geared towards the minority of owners who plan to see hard track use. I had a Z06 on order last winter and cancelled when problems started to surface.

Word is the car was crashed before this test. Then the tech that fixed it forgot to plug in the blower coolant pump. The car was in limp mode for the test. Not the cars fault
