While the hacks that we see here have to have that dongle plugged in (showing that the technology being used there needs to be properly secured) has anyone been able to hack Onstar and similar systems without a third party dongle?

Onstar, and similar equipment that allows the manufacturer real time access to the car for thier services has always made me feel uneasy, I always thought someone would eventually hack that and use iy for thier own purposes.

BTW, I know that when a new GM vehicle is purchased, the buyer has to sign the equivalent of a non-disclosure agreement. Is there a way to order an Onstar "delete"? Or do they just tell people who don't want it to buyer another manufacturers product (most likely)?

I'll be honest, I really don't want that stuff in my car.

In my 09 g8 there were two boxes in the underside of the trunk deck. One was for satellite radio, second was onstar box. I had both removed in my car.
