Yep but now they are perfecting the charging stations. 75% charge in 15 minutes. A big issue though is getting the charging stations out there around the country so people can travel across the country. Another issue is longevity of batteries. We all know batteries don't hold a charge after a year or two like they did when brand new. Every time they come out with a new battery promising this issue is a thing of the past but after a few years of usage the batteries don't hold the charge for as long. So after 4-5 years how many miles will you get from a charge? Who knows?

Tesla has a battery swap station that takes less time to swap out the batteries then it does to fill a tank. Get that system across the nation and that would revolutionize the market.
Tesla has a vision, I like where they are going for now.

That would be interesting but I'm not sure how that would work. The batteries in these cars aren't small or light. The battery pack for the model S is 535kg or 1100lbs. They also tend to be hidden within the lower chassis of the car as they need to keep a low center of gravity. 1100lbs is a lot of weight to throw around.
