beach people....lettuce talk wagons
Last year for our trip to the beach I thought I had it figured out. The kids have one of those "off road" radio flyer wagons with the pneumatic tires. I took it to load all of our shit in when we went to the beach. It was better in theory than practice. It still sucked balls trying to haul all of our shit out onto the beach. The tires sunk of course and the handle was so short that I ended up just lifting the front end off the ground and dragging it back and forth that way. It doesn't help that we carry 589 pounds of shit with us but I'm not going without a cooler of beer.
Anyone have any really good wagons they use on the beach that don't sink like a rock?

looking online I'm in sticker shock over what places are asking for a wagon just like the one I have with wider tires on it. I'm wondering if I could weld stock onto the hubs and make it a dually all the way around and then make the handle longer? Seems that would help keep it on top of the sand.

Ahh Yes, here's my tandem axle wagon, tandom actually works, although my tires aren't as large as the John Deere one I've used this MANY times at Myrtle Beach SC, and lots if other places when my triplets were smaller... It's a tight squeeze fitting this into cargo area of my Tahoe, but it does fit and prevents lots of hassle dragging crap around

I paid close to $600 for mine 17 years ago. It's rated for 2,000lbs,
I see lots of these custom wagons, I'll focus on more photos of them from now on.

are those lawn mower tires? I'd actually kinda thought about just putting 4 mower tires on it. I'd definitely want to test it out though before wagging it all the way to VA Beach. That adds a shit load of weight. Only thing that would piss me off more than dragging my current 598 lb wagon through the sand is having to drag a 698 lb wagon through the sand. It would have to work.
Problem is.....Ohio is pretty light in the sandy beach department.

my wife's suggestion was to take less beer....which I laughed at heartily. If I gotta deal with the whole family at a beach I'm gonna have to be shit canned in order to do it without killing anyone. I'll leave the chairs in the truck before I leave the beer cooler. We basically carry 3-4 bag chairs, an umbrella, couple boogie boards, and a whole cooler of beer. I sit on the beach and get lit up....only going in the water when I have to pee.

you are way better off making your own...I took 4 wheels off an old beat up little tikes electric jeep "the wheels are plastic, flat, and wide" and got really creative with bolting them to the bottom of a wagon lol

I'd actually wondered about those tires and if they'd stay on top of the sand. We have an electric quad in the shed that I'd love to convert to a powered beach wagon but I'm saving that for Pickle so I can't go tearing it apart. May look for someone junking one locally though and steal the tires or try to fix it.

Not lawn tractor wheels/tires that I know of? It's the way I bought it.
And yea, gotta have a pusher while going through loose sand at beach, but otherwise it rolls fairly easy.
It's been long time, can't remember the name of the place that builds these things.
