Fuel pump trap door

I've decided to go with trap door method of replacing the fuel pump. Does anyone have the dimensions for the cutout on a 2002 WS6?

I just did one on a fellow member's 01 last month. The pump is on the back edge of the tank on his. We cut just inside the rib on either side, and cut all the way from front corner to back corner. You don't need to go to this extreme. I will cut the next one (mine) the same way, because you now have access to the other doo hickey that is at the front of the tank. I think it is the ?overflow? vent. It also made it easier to remove the locking ring on the pump assembly. We had to use two hammers, and two bars to pound the ring around to remove the pump assembly. It was also easy to fabricate a piece of metal so that it "snaps" around both front and rear edges. I used some duck bill pliers to form the same contour. A little urethane caulk, a half dozen screws, and some spray paint, we were good to go. Basically, we left a quarter inch of the flat section that is adjacent to the ribs on all the way around. That way, there is still some ridgidity left to this area.
Be sure to triple check where you install your screws, and the length of the screws. Also, be careful with the dremel. Sorry, I don't have any pics.

I did some research on google bout this. My car Been sitting on my carling lot for bout a month now. I still can't decide bout doing the trap door or not.
People say is the way to go. Others say it's lazy and will mess up the car. But doing that will save me tears, money n blood!
So. Good luck man. I wish I decided what to do already!

IF you knew what you were doing, and had the lift or really good tools, it would take you very little more time to drop the tank than to cut the trap door, but the second time you had to do it, you would save a ton of time.

Ok guys. Do you guys think the dimensions on this pic would be correct for a 2002 ws6? Because I'm ready to cut now.

Uh, no. The pump is right at the BACK of the gas tank. That pic is of a metal gas tank. You have a plastic one.

Here is a video. The dimensions shown at about the 12 second mark should be perfect for you.

I dropped the tank on jack stands and it really wasn't that bad. Nothing wrong with the trap door method but dropping the tank was just the cleaner way to do it IMO
