Stock WS6 VS Stock 5th Gen SS
What are the chances of a stock WS6 with an auto trans winning a race against a stock 5th gen SS with an auto trans? I know there are weight & horsepower differences, but which car would win in a 1/4 mile

the ws6 should take the auto ss no problem, theyre dogs with the stock tune. but if he has a tune they do run pretty well lol still not overly impressive though

i like the SS from the outside but I dont like the interior i really dont like how the dash looks,i dont know how the ball was dropped on the SS i think the SS should have been more faster since it was making a comeback, but i'd like to see both raced

All things being equal as stated above the ws6 wouldnt win. At least not in the quarter mile. Maybe on the launch but after the heavier ss gets rolling it will over power the ws6 within the quarter mile. The ss has bigger engine and alot more torque

Slimss is right.
I've got a M6 and even with my mods (and I have more stuff then a WS6 does) I had a 5th Gen SS walk on me all the time at the track. I was even out the gate twice before he was and he still overtook me.
They may be bricks but they do have some balls too.
Not sure how someone would do going at them from a roll.
No I'm not saying a mod out LS1 couldn't take one on but my answer is for the question he asked. stock vs stock.
4th gen - LS1 TA weighs about 3600 without driver and stock rated power 310-325 HP

I've raced 2 of them, both 6 speeds. One was a bone stocker back when the first new models cam out so that one has been a couple years,,and I could run away from it, we only went through a couple gears on the street.
The second one was at a local Fbody track day more recently,,,he had a brand new one with a paxton installed blowing about 12psi. It was a 6 speed and other than the blower, custom tune, it was stock. We lined up 3 times and ran heads up. I beat him all 3 times but he was running me down quickly on the big end. Running 13.30's at 118 mph where as I was running high 12's at 111 mph that day. Both of us on stock street tires,,,he was babying it out of the hole because the 2 previous track events he broke his rear half shafts both times. I was sort of being easy on mine with the stock 10 bolt and only cutting 2.0 60 foot times, but he was doing even more so, and by the time he got moving I was out 4-5 car lengthsHe had to run me down and just couldn't get there in time. It's obvious he had the more powerfull car that day,,,but just couldn't exploit it.
Wifes car is an SS 6-speed with an LS6 cam and headers,,,that's it.
In a nut shell,,,run what ya want and don't worry about it,,,,anything can win on any given day.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 08-28-2012 at 05:09 AM.

Basically the 5th gen camaros run on average 12.99 to 13.3 The ls1 cars run on average 13.2 to 13.6 so yes with so many variables any car could win on any day. But overall the 5th gen camaros are quicker cars. More hp and more torque than the ls1 cars.
