Thought I would share my Excitement

I GOT THE 12 BOLT IN!!!

    3.90's are BEAST.

The install went REALLY easy. The only issue was with the place I took the driveshaft to get the new U-Joint pressed in (I don't have a vice here at school). I sent my mom up there to get it done and the 1 guy at a transmission shop that could do it was out to lunch so she waited about 30 mins. The guy came back and told her it was going to be $80 . She told him ok (I forgot to tell her it shouldn't have been that much). But the guy came back out and had to ASK MY MOM which end the U-joint went on, and told me there was no way it would fit.
So she came back, I took it to a small shop down the street, they did it in 10 minutes for $5.

Overall, I'm VERY happy with it so far.

Good job, I'm trying to get in on a GP for a Strange 12 Bolt right now. I even considered 3.90s since I was torn between 3.73s and 4.10s, but I heard they are super noisy and Strange doesn't recommend using them. Are yours noisy?

Awesome! Enjoy the security of having a Damn near Bullet Proof Rear End.

No noise as of yet. Don't have too many miles (50ish) on them yet, and no hard launches. I'm probably going back to Raleigh this weekend, which will be a 200 mile round trip and I'll update. I've heard its actually the 4.10s and above that they have a lot of problems with being noisy.

I will say this though: I love the ratios the 3.90's give you because you have the power to rip through the gears, but you aren't pulling a whole lot higher revs than stock. Basically, the RPM are right where you want them while you're cruising. Plus the chrome rear cover looks really cool

About the security: It better be bulletproof, the thing weighs something like 180 pounds. The True Track posi and ring gear looked really beefy too.

Another thing: turns out I broke at least 2, probably 3 teeth off the spider gears, and put a small crack in the actual posi housing.

The old rear right! Good thing you upgraded, sounds like it was ready to puke all over the road!

Yea it was about to. 2 teeth fell out when I pulled the cover, and it looks like one is just barely hanging on inside the carrier. Everything else is ok though. Nothing else got chewed up

I think I'm going to drop the extra cash on the aluminum girdle/cover. Here is a pic of the pinion from the last 10 bolt I toasted. You should have seen the ring gear, there were cuts all over the housing as well where metal nearly came through.

The rear is somewhat noisy between 60 and 65 when maintaining a certain speed. It's not unbearable, and I can't hear it over the radio. Just thought I would update.

I had 3.90 gears in a 12 bolt and they were pretty noisy if you are driving with the windows up and the radio down low, but nothing real annoying.

My exhaust would probably be too loud to hear it anyway.

Update: Drove back to Raleigh this weekend. The gears are noisy from about 60-70, and they are only loud at 68-70. It's only when maintaining a certain speed as well. I cruised at 62-65 for a while and it wasn't annoying, and in the 65 zones i was cruising around 72.
