g radials and et streets
I have 2 Mickey Thomson 26x17x11.5 I raced it last night for the 1st time and it did ok hooked like crazy but my buddies has Drag Radials 255/40/16 BF Goodrich and they are an inch lower if you look at the specs I ran 12.58 at 108.73 with the MT and 12.36 at 111mph with the drag radials
Would the 1 inch in height difference make up for that trap speed and time? Plus my speedo was off with the MT and the abs and handbrake light were on but it was off with the BF GoodR.... My speedo showed around 95mph with the MT and I was doing 109 approx. So they are definately too big
I am looking at buying Nitto's Nitto555r for the track vs my et streets I have 365rwhp and 350ft lbs of torque and a stall Yank 3200
Thanks everyone I am selling my ET streets to buy lower tires just wondering if they will hook

The abs and break light was from the difference in front to rear wheel sizes, should cause any issues with the runs, what may have happen was the difference in the weight of the wheels that helped.

what did your 60's look like with both sets? Those ET Streets should out 60 BFG's easily. Not that BFG's aren't good tires.....those ET streets just get mighty sticky when you put heat into them. What pressure were you running in both sets?

Maybe the DA and track prep was different. Also the ETs since its more tire is also heavier. Also curious what psi you ran both tires at.
555Rs are the jizz if you make less then 400hp/tq, awesome in the rain, and once you get them really hot (i chill in the puddle for a while) they dead hook. I sold mine with 15k miles on em too!

When I had MT Drag radials on my 99 T/A and went to the track they hooked like crazy. Bought new 17" rims and went with Nittos all around. The 555R drag radials do not hook like the MTs in my opinion but definitely are safer if caught in the rain. Nittos have a new drag radial that looks just like the MTs. I think they are NT05R and will probably be my replacements for the NT-555R real soon.

^ I think theyll keep the 555R. Its great for sub 400hp/tq vehicles. They handle extremely well if you put the psi up to 35. I dont see them ditching that drag radial because of the nitch its created. Great in the rain and tons of life like a street radial

I was running 28psi in both sets and I could feel my car bogging with the MT vs The BF's the 1" in height does affect gear ratio I think the combination of that and weight is the factor

28 psi is a ton which would cause some traction issues, and you should invest in a set of 28x10.5's thats what ive run and never had an issue plus like orion said the et streets should easily out perform the bfg's anyday. how long of a burn out have you been doing? nice and smokey or barely any smoke at all? there are many things that could cause a different time but seems like you just need to be at the track a few times to get the car fully figured out and you should be good to go.
oh and NT05R's > NT555R's2000 ss camaro, forged lq9 370 short block, stage 3 PRC 243 heads, fast 102 w, big mouth throttle body, MS3 cam, 1.7 roller rockers, stage 3 t-56, monster stage 3, pro 5.0, 4.10's with moser axles, bmr tq arm, lca's, phb. SOLD (thankfully)!!!

Having a small cam is like having a small dick, everytime you go to use it you wish it was bigger

28 is way too much.....I don't even run that on the street with my nittos. At the track I put the MT's at 15.
