what engine is it? ls1 or v6? if I'm understanding correctly you had a 98 camaro, now did you have a 98 pcm in it or did you use the 2000 pcm? All of these things matter you cant just put a 2000 pcm in a 98 car because the gauges look for an analog signal and the 2000 pcm will send a digital signal causing it to not function also a 98 engine harness has different pinouts for the pcm so it cannot be used. In short it sounds like you need to get a 98 harness and a 98 pcm and then go from there.

if your going from a ls car to a ls car i dont see why you should be changing the harness. Only thing i can think that is different is the coil pack brackets and the valve covers.

Then it goes back to what I said originally. You CANNOT use a 2000 harness and or pcm in a 98 car in order to get that engine to work you will need a 98 pcm and harness or completely change the car over to a 99-up pcm system. IMO its easier to just get a 98 pcm and harness
he must change the harness because the 98 pcm uses completely different pinouts for the pcm and harness as well as having 3 plugs under the dash instead of 2. So while it may look like the same thing none of the gauges will function. he must either convert the car over to a 99-up pcm system or just get a 98 harness and pcm if the car still doesnt have one

I hate to bump such an old thread but if I am reading this correctly upgrading from a 98 harness to a 99+ will eliminate the 3rd under dash connector? I had to swap to a newer pcm and harness in my car for tuning the new setup and I have this extra connector when I am not sure if it is needed or not.

The '98s have some differences from the later model 4th gens. Sounds like this is one of them.

Yeah it sucks how different they are. I put a 370 and F1-A in my car and changed to the newer ecu and wiring harness. There were a couple connectors that were different but this one just has no where to plug into. I am hoping it just isnt needed anymore.

Best thing to do is get the wiring schematics -- you can usually pick up a used set of factory service manuals for around $100 from a book dealer at a swap meet or on-line... maybe e-bay.
