Ok its not a chevy but maybe some knows about honda trannys?

Hey guys this is for my sisters 94 accord, the people over at honda tech havent been to much help so hopefully some of the tranny gurus here can help.

Story: Last night she calls me telling me her car wont move so I go over to where she is and she's right if i put it in reverse the tranny goes into gear for a second but the motor will rev free and barely move. So then I try drive the car goes in gear and I take it around the block at first it seems normal but its slipping in between shifts and after about .5 miles of driving the thing almost completely falls out of gear to the point I'm revving it to 3500 just to get it to move at 20 mph.

My diagnosis is that it seems either the clutches or pump has gone bad and is only working for a few mins when cold. Can anyone confirm this?

I had a Dodge FWD that would do this when the low/reverse band was bad.

But that particular trany had an adjustable low/reverse band.

Check the fluid? Any leaks?

Here's what I found thus far:

Automatic transmission: Cars with high mileage may begin to shift more harshly, which may be corrected by adding a bottle of Lubeguard conditioner to the automatic transmission fluid. (1994-96)

Seems to be a common issue among the forums, in that year Honda Accord, listing things from, bad transmission solenoid, to clutch packs, and out of adjustment shift cables.

All listed as possible causes of your situation.

Target Mileage seems to be ~75K mark and up.

I would have it taken in for a transmission diagnostic.

ya i think it maybe the clutches going out (i found that same page after i posted this lol) . I just changed the fluid last week and there was no leaks I did add some smooth shift stuff to it also which looked like jelly but it did help. Although since this happened I'm beginning to think that it may have caused the tranny to die. I'm thinking maybe the clucthes were on their last legs because the magnet was gunked up pretty good with crud and that jelly like smooth shft may have just taken them out
