    putting things into perspective......

Zach started up fall baseball this week. He had his first practice Tuesday. At practice I was talking to the grandpa of one of the boys on the team. Zach has played ball with this kid since his first year of tee ball and his grandpa has never missed a practice or game so I've talked to him a lot over the last few years. We're just talking about things in general and he tells me he went to the doctor a month or so ago and was diagnosed with lung cancer. They gave him 9-12 months. Helluva nice guy and by talking to him you wouldn't think anything was wrong with him. Just made me think that my problems are nothing in comparison. He said he was just going to make the best of the time he has left. What will you be doing a year from now? If you knew you had a year left what would you try to accomplish? I would spend every waking moment with my wife and kids. I've thought about him a lot since Tuesday....

It is tough to even think about stuff like that. My father was daignosed with both lymphoma and prostate cancer several years ago and underwent treatment. The lymphoma has now returned and he recently underwent a biopsy. Awaiting word now on the results. My daughter came home from their house last week and said that she saw them looking at his Will.

Like you said, makes the day to day bullshit we all deal with pale in comparison. Life, health, family and friends are all gifts...

It's a tough situation to be sure. Since my diagnosis, I have taken a different outlook on life. But, My diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis doesn't really give me a time limit on my life expectancy. Just an increase in disability as time goes on.

However, if I knew I only had a year to live, I would definitely move to NV, (or anywhere else he may live at the time) to be closer to my son and spend as much time with him as possible. There is no greater love in my life then that boy
