Which Muthra Thumpr Comp Cam to use in LS1

Which Comp Cam should I use on an LS1 Ram Air Trans Am with Thyphoon 85mm Intake manifold4:11 gears,6-speed,long tube headers and Slp airbox?235-249 duration with .573 intake lift and .558 exhaust lift with power band from 2600-6800 rpms or 227-241-duration with .563-.546 lift with 2300-6600 rpm power band or 219-233 duration with 553-537 lift with 2000-6400 rpm power band for street use but I want a rough good sounding idle and COMP CAM says these cams have a hard hitting powerful exhaust note.DOES anyone have any of these in their car or can recommend one of these by the duration or lift.Any help woul be greatly appreciaated. Thanks

    Bat mobile black
    2000 Trans am WS6 M6

any of those cams would work in a stock ls1. If you want a choppy idle just get something like 113ls1 or 112lsa. i honestly wouldnt buy anyone of those cams except maybe the first one. The cam doesnt really make your car louder or sound too much different except at idle. Its all about your exhaust set up. I hope you plan on getting all the supporting mods along with the cam also.

I run the Mutha Thumper in a 406 (The 235/249 at .050 version). Mine is the carbed version so it's ground on 107 lsa. The fuel injected version is ground on a 109.

Similar cams though, and they sound great. They give up a little bit of peak HP but they make up for it with alot of low end right off the bat with a very flat torque curve. Extremely fun on the street.

I'll see if I can get a video clip of mine up here.

Here is a sound clip. Very streetable, I drive it around all the time, idles nice in traffic, I can even lug the motor down to about 1200 rpm without much bucking, then pick the throttle back up and off it goes without complaining. So it requires very little downshifting, even with the 3.08 gears currently in the car. Just makes a ton of grunt.

Well, I'm sure any of the 3 would work fine. They have the Thumper, Mutha Thumper, and the Big Mutha thumper. These thumpers were based off Comp grinds used for dirt ovals where they need power off the corners, which is why they provide such a flat torque curve.

If you like the sound, they make decent power. However there are better choices out there for making power if that's what you are after.

My personal opinion, I went with the mid version (Mutha thumper) and it sounds alot like the custom ground roller I run in my 454 chevelle, and it acts much the same too. That car in the sound clip is a fun pleasure car I drive 2-3 times a week. I could easily drive it daily if need be. Being a 4 speed it's a little easier to live with a thumpy cam since big stall converters aren't in the equation.
I've been around thumpy cams all my life, and have driven them daily for 30 years so it really doesn't bother me. You adjust your driving habbits and adapt. Eventually it's just like any other car. That's my take on it.

It will idle down to 6-700 but I have it set at 900. It's still thumpy even at 1500.
