Welcome!
Not sure what you mean -- 1/4 mile speed, high speed distance driving, autocross?

First step is to beef up the suspension and driveline or you will simply be breaking parts. Not sure what you have done to your car, but the following are recommended:
1. Subframe connectors
2. Lower control arms
3. Panhard bar
4. Driveshaft safety loop
If you are running the stock 10 bolt, it won't last long if you are an M6 with sticky tires. An A4 car will not have as much driveline shock, so you may get away with running the 10 bolt for a while. Easiest engine mods are long tube headers, a lid with a quality non-oiled filter, a cooler thermostat, and a tune. Leave the MAF alone! After that, if you are an A4 car, a high stall torque converter is your best bet. Getting deeper into the engine, a cam is what can put you in the 11's with no other major engine work. Out back, 3.73 gears for an A4 and 4.11 gears for an M6 are the usual recommendations.

Black- 99 WS.6 - Modified
^This. You may also want to look into a torque arm. The stock one mounts to the tail shaft of the tranny, and has been known to cause it to break. An aftermarket one will relocate it to the crossmember, or a tunnel mount. For drag applications, tunnel mount us usually prefered. It will transfer more noise, though.
I would also highly recommend the rear diff as well. Adding power and traction = bad results with a stock 10 bolt. Moser, MidWest Chassis, and Strange are some of the top choices for a good 12 bolt, 9 inch, or Dana 60.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Inglewood, Ca?
If you're an A4 a 3400 stall will shave ~.5 seconds off your quarter mile times. You may want to upgrade the tranny also.
As has been stated there are other things you might want to do that will improve the chassis (SFC's, adjustable tunnel mount TA, etc).
So what all is done now?67 Camaro: K-K + 797-z (look it up), 454/Th400/4.10 12-bolt = 6mpg, PS/PDB/PW tilt, tach, gauges...
2005 Corvette LS2/M6 Magnetic Red Metallic (What else would it be?) w/ Cashmere interior
2002 Z28: NBM/Tan, MTI smooth lid, smooth bellows, !AIR, !cats, 1-3/4" QTP SS LT's, 2-1/2" TD's with X-pipe, MagnaFlows dumped at axle, custom welded SFC's, MidWest Chassis body mount adjustable T/A, 3400 stall, 3.23 gears (was 2.73). Tuned: 343rwhp/357rwt (before TD's). Best: 12.559 @ 108+, 1.73 60' @ 3500' DA w/MT ET Street DR's.
Carbon footprint? CLOWN SHOE!

No budget? You can easily start racking up $$ pretty quickly in these cars. I of all people know
