2002 Formula...overpriced?
the wife and i were going to the grocery store and on the way by the Chevy dealership a red firebird caught my eye,we stopped and it turned out to be a v6,but i noticed a nbm firebird way in the back of the used car lot,so i walked back there and it was a 2002 m6 formula! dark graphite cloth interior,t tops, steering wheel controls, monsoon audio.it had a few paint chips and a small dent or two,may have been wrecked before, both front fenders had large gaps and were not flush where the fender and front door meet, and the headlight doors were not flush and the gaps weren't even.anyway it has 70k miles (which is really good for a 10 year old car) and appeared to be very stock.had Alaska plates(military guy i guess)so it wonder about undercarriage corrosion.the dealer is asking $12,999.

Would depend on how bad those gaps in the fender are and if those headlight covers can be adjusted to look better or if it's a hood issue. Regardless, considering yes I'd say it's too much. ~10 maybe?

$13k is redunkulas.. $8k would be a reasonable offer..
Chipped up, miss aligned panels and paint that will eventually bubble up and fall off makes it worth less than 5 figures right off the bat..
Being from Alaska means head lights froze shut on a regular basis and had to be pried open..
Misaligned panels, and huge gaps, could be a sign of the car slidding into snow banks which is'nt hard to do with a 4th gen..
Underside will likely show signs of significant rot as well..Last edited by Smittro; 06-13-2011 at 05:01 AM.

GM LeMans/Luxo Blue- 2001 Firebird Formula
I'd pass on it. Way overpriced. Definitely get a CarFax if you still want it. I'm willing to bet by your description it has been in a wreck. Throw in the Alaska winters and you have a car that will probably give you fits down the road. I got my 2001 Formula for $5k knowing it needed about $500 in exhaust work and new O2 sensors. Never been wrecked but had high miles. I'd keep looking if I were you. There are better deals out there!

Probably not going to lower the price enough to make this car worth it.
Ohio or Michigan winters are bad enough, I wouldn't touch an f-body from Alaska.

Not looking, just rare to see a m6 formy on a large dealer lot.they probably took it to auction anyway.

Way too high. I picked mine up for 9 and it was in very good shape.

The price sounds reasonable but try to talk the salesman down in price. But first get the car to a mechanic you can trust to look it over.

X1000!
I'm from Pa so I know of the winters you speak of.. The car being from Alaska is a walk away deal..
No way in frozen over hell I'd purchase any car that see's -50* and lower temps on a regular basis..
Judging from the discription, sounds like it's been to hell and back.. Some folks may think their f-body is good in snow,
but trust me, it's not Alaska good..
The owner prolly did nothing but spin all the time so the tranny is likely worn out as well..
And, we already know about the 10-bolt and abuse..
Personally, it having a V8 does'nt add any value for me..
Car's not worth more than 5-8 grand reguardless..imho
