rock river arms ar15
how are rock river arms ar15's? im looking at one for sale, guy wants 1350. its a 16'' barrel with an ace stock, eotech 556(level action halo site) rra 2 stage trigger, barrel is not twisted and hes claiming it has less than 500 rounds rough it. is that a good price? more importantly is it a good make. i know eotech is top of the line when it comes to sights and new that sight goes for 550 but hows the gun itself. heres a pic of what it looks like

rra is top notch. If I was going to spend 1300 bucks on an AR it wouldnt be that gun though.

price is probably pretty good, given the eotech is included..
assuming sling is included, or no?
the pic is underexposed (dark), it's a little hard to see detail, but i'd say it looks like the M4 profile barrel, carbine length gas system w/ standard birdcage handguard, aftermarked stock (is taht a magpul stock?), and an aftermarket grip (no sure which brand?)...
also, i'm not sure what you mean when you say the barrel "is not twisted",.??? were you referring the rifling, or barrel fluting?

i asked him what the twist was and he told me it wasnt twisted haha, i was a little confused about that myself.. ..maybe thats what he meant and just read it wrong

yeah..."not twisted" is throwing me off.
that gun, with an eotech, would be pushing it at $1350....i wouldnt pay that much.
but my AR was RRA, and i dont think i would buy any other brand.

yeah you might want to ask what the twist rate is... assuming that's important to you? also, if it were me i'd probably ask if the barrel is chrome lined or not..

top shelf? hmm.,.. well if you have the money, you would probably look at les baer or noveske, ...but you could build a good rifle from say, rock river, CMMG, BCM, ...many more,... i built one, a "mutt", from a rock river lower, DPMS lower parts kit and trigger, and a CMMG upper (fully assembled)..

thats like saying I want to build a fast car, how much will it cost?
what do you want to do? straight line? curves? quarter mile? all out top speed? highway acceleration?
what do you want your rig to do? eat any ammo available? 1 MOA? be compact? be lightweight? highest FPS? be absolutely reliable? all of the above?

another thing i noticed, ...the OP is in a communist state... if so, are there any assault weapon ban criteria on the books there? for instance in CA, i know that they have structural restrictions, such as "no evil pistol grip", "or no mag release that can be pushed w/ a finger", ...might want to check NY laws...

I have RRA predator hp.... LOVE IT.. I recently bought 2 more lowers... If eotech is included it sounds like a fair price... RRA I think is having a sale for a new ar15 for 1000 out the door...

I think for the money, you cannot find a better built AR in 5.56 than a Bravo Company BFG series. Hammer forged 1/7 twist, true mil-spec steel, high pressure and magnetic particle tested, the best built BCG's in the business. Get the better rifle, and look for your EoTech or Aimpoint separately. Or buy 2k rounds and learn to shoot irons proficiently.

Black / Stryker Blue- 2K WS.6/ 2K9 G8GT
Well I lucked out completely, I bought my S&W M&P-15 Sport, on sale at cabela's for $600... Now has Magpul Pistol, Magpul B.A.D., Coupled Mags, UTG Extended length Quad rail system, TLR-1 Streamlight, UTG aluminum VFG, UTG 9-18" Bipod, 2" Black nylon sling, Sight Mark Reflex sight, Magazine well grip, and an A.R.M.S. folding front sight tower, Im in it for 1200. Next mod is Adams Arms Piston Drive Conversion, and YHM Stripped upper with forward assist and dust cover (two items that are left out on the Sport model).

Personally, I don't get the hype of piston AR's if you're not going to run a short barrelled supressed rifle. Most of the systems are proprietary, so spare parts could be problematic down the road. It's not uncommon to see broken op rods on aftermarket kit piston systems. They add reciprocating mass to the front of the rifle which can affect accuracy. And there's the carrier tilt issues that cause wear to the carrier, the lower reciever, and the reciever extension unless you run an anti-tilt buffer. But then you're still stuck with proprietary parts. Piston systems in AR's address 1 problem in a DI system that is simple to work around, while adding un-needed complexity and additional points for potential failure. DI AR's run fine dirty as long as you keep the BCG wet. It doesn't matter if it's gun lube, motor oil, olive oil, spit or piss.
