Get you best vise grip on it and lock it down hard. Say a prayer and see if it will turn.

My torque converter bolts (factory) had an internal hex in the bolt head. I assume youre meaning the bolt head stripped, hopefully it didnt pull the threads in the converter lug. If it did pull the threads your best bet would be to try to grind the head off or torch it off. If youre doing it in the car access is very tight, but it could be done

Well if the old trany is bad I would take it out the whole way to give yourself some room to work first..
The only time the TC needs to go with trany is if the trany you're taking out is still good. This done on a good trany to keep from damaging the main pump seal..
As for the bolt, sounds like you're talking about the threads because TC bolts are usually a hardened.
If the threads are toast I'd get a moto tool (dremel) and cut the post off the TC, remove the TC then with the moto tool cut the back of the bolt off (threaded side)..
If it is the head I would also try the vise grips..

You may have to drop the Y-pipe, but like Smittro said, the transmission will slide off of the torque converter. You may have to rock the transmission up and down a bit on each side as you slide it back. Maintaining a straight line as you back it off will be critical to avoid damaging the seals and buggering stuff up. I would re-install the other converter bolts before attempting this.
