Want to be a bit more specific on your build? There are some highly tech-savvy people on this board, myself included.
When I built my comp years ago, it was top of the line. It's kind of shitty now.
q6600(2.4ghz) overclocked to 3ghz
4gb g-skill ram(overclocked)
Nvidia 8800gts (I've since upgraded to a gtx460)
I'll post some pics of it once I get home.

I'm glad that your brand new computer can kick a 4+ year old computer's ass
Regardless of what you like, nvidia and intel are both faster than ati/amd

My computer is a year old and according to Moore's law it is almost obsolete!
Dont flame it if you cant beat it.
Intel's flagship processor operates 10% faster than mine stock. But the user would never see it you know that. $220 vs $1200.
Nvidia is faster but you would only tell but by what 3 frps? . INTEL is faster than AMD.
Now your starting to push the limits of the northbridge and southbridge....Last edited by Hot head; 04-18-2011 at 12:11 PM.

Unless someone is a gamer, or a CAD user, I do not understand the big deal with graphics adapters. My desktop is far from "new" but I have an NVidia GT 240 card, 40G Intel SSD for a boot drive, Intel Quad core 8200 CPU, 8G of ram, (2) WD 1T caviar black drives, and an Intel Pro 1000MT dual Ethernet adapter teamed... Running Win7 64 bit Ultimate, MS Office 2010 Professional Plus, Symantec Endpoint and Symantec System Recovery 2011...
I have zero problems with speed despite my antiquated technology.

What is a graphics adapter? Do you mean graphics card. I can tell your systems is funky because 8 gb of ram is not a multiple of 3.
For high performance intel I believe ram is in multiples of 3, so you can have only 3 gb, 6, gb, 9gb, 12gb or 16gb.
8 gigabytes of ram would mean that its a bastardized system or old.
Break it down for me if you think I am wrong.
fyi ditch the Norton its garbage.
Western digital is garbage go Seagate.Last edited by Hot head; 04-18-2011 at 04:32 PM.

Yeah I work in the local IT shop at a hospital here. When I sit at a customer's desk all they say is the computer is broke.
1. Do you ask them what broke or what is wrong?
2. Do you ask them about their life and how it is going?
3. Do you ask them when was the last time you used the PC?
4. Or do you turn the CPU on since the monitor had a amber light?
