How do you adjust the throttle 'response'?
98 T/A WS6 a4
Last week, sitting at a red light, at idle, cylinder 2 decides to spit the spark plug out. After I yank the head, heli-coil it, clean everything up, put the head back on and connect all the cables to the round-robinish assembly on the passenger side I now have no passing gear (for lack of a better description). Previously, at any speeds below 65-70ish, cruising in OD if you were to put the pedal to the floor, it would downshift to 2nd and hall ass untill 75 and shift to 3rd. Since I merely removed the cables, then put them back, this doesn't happen. The transmission will shift out of OD to 3rd but won't shift to second unless done manually.
Another thing: In the past, right after TCS has kicked on, the cable feels like something is resisting it's movement. When this happens, the car hardly accelerates at all. The cable is extremely difficult to press and when it has happened I have pulled over on the side of the road to check the cables for any kind of binds, not finding any. I am currently getting this same feeling after half throttle. In the past, I've been able to get this sensation to go away by restarting the car but that's not fixing it either. I've even tried disconnecting the ABS module and cruise control module, nothing.
Any ideas what needs to be adjusted/checked?
Cliffs: Blew spark plug, fixed it, transmission downshifted properly prior, doesn't now.

Not that I can find. I just double checked the TPS, MAF, IAC. All are plugged in nice and snug. I've got a check engine light on, but it's been on since I removed the cat warmer relay when the pump went bad. I'm waiting on a friend to bring my laptop back with HP Tuners, I'm going to check to make sure the computer is reading the TPS correctly.

That could be a good possibility Smittro (cuz that hose is a bitch to put back), but how/why would that affect how/when the car shifts if the VB is electric?

So, for all that are interested, I figured out what was doing it. The TCS control module (round-robinish contraption in the passenger side fender) wasn't allowing the cable to be fully retracted. If you look carefully, the throttle cable comes into the top of the TCS module. The cable below this first cable is what was moving when the car would reach half throttle, not the butterfly. Looking at the connection for the module, I discovered that it was melted. Using a set of jumper wires, I made the module fully contract the throttle cable, then release the cable. Throttle works fine now.
Thanks for the assistance anyways guys!!
