Quicksilver Metallic- 2005 Pontiac GTO
Okay, time to beat the dead horse...
So, I'm looking for the best oil filter available for the LS1. Looking for both filtration and volume. I've searched and found nothing of mention, just a reference to the PF59. Anyone else have suggestions w/ data to back it up?

WIX is good, dad uses them on his built Chevelle. aprox 550hp LT1 ('72 block) unverified as well (desktop dyno showed over 600 at 8000 and going). Also used on the rest of the "fleet".

I run the K&N HP-1007 filter with a Filter Mag - since the first oil change. No data to back up whether this filter is any better than others - but I do have data on how handy that little welded on nut at the end of the filter is...

Pewter- all bore 370 Trans Am
the simple fact that the 1" nut makes it easy to take off is enough for me
I havent found any metal shavings or anything on my drain plug so i guess the filter is doing its job..

I found a great research article about oil filters a while back that was very interesting and had everything you want to know, but i lost it
. Anyways, After reading that i have used the PureOne puralator filter and have had no problems. I learned that there is only a few oil filter companies, Puralator, Fram, Mobil 1, and i think STP. everything else is made by these companies. The Mobil 1 filter was best of all but very expensive, then the 2 Puralators were 2nd and 3rd. Pretty much anything but Fram will do just fine because the worst filters tested was the standard Fram, then Double Guard, then Tough Guard. I will try my best to find this article
